Honoring a True Hero: Col. Charles Lee George
In honor of my father, Col. Charles Lee George, we are proud to offer this additional savings. My father was a Marine veteran who served his country with unwavering courage and dedication.
Col. Charles Lee George was a decorated officer in the Marine Corps, serving for 27 years, including during the Vietnam War. He was wounded in battle during the largest helicopter battle in Vietnam but displayed incredible bravery and selflessness by ensuring his men were airlifted to safety before himself. Despite his severe injuries, he waited 24 hours after being shot, packing his wound with mud to prevent bleeding out, which led to severe infections. His heroic actions saved many lives and he spent months in recovery due to his sacrifices.
Beyond his military service, my father was also a cherished member of our family and community. He was my soccer coach, Brownie Troop leader, and my idol. He exemplified the qualities of a true gentleman and hero. Sadly, he passed away from Parkinson’s Plus, but his legacy of bravery, kindness, and selflessness continues to inspire me every day.
